Fishing district of the Idrija fishing association extends the river Idrijca, from the spring to the concrete bridge in the settlement Stopnik, with all the tributaries in this area.
Fishing waters in this area inhabit these salmonids:
  • Marble trout – salmo marmoratus
  • Brown trout – salmo truta fario
  • Hybride ( between marble trout and brown trout )
  • Rainbow trout – salmo gairdneri
  • Grayling – thymallus thymallus
The Idrija fishing association manages with 86,0 ha of water areas of which 63,0 ha is aimed for sports fishing and 23,0 ha of that area is protected waters, which are aimed for breeding young fish for repopulating fishing waters.
In Srednja Kanomlja the Idrija fishing association has it's own fish farm, which comprises of a multipurpose building for social activities, a hatchery and ponds for breeding autochthon fish types.
The fish farm enables breeding of 36.000 pieces of young fish up to size of 20 cm, 4500 kg of consume fish and breeding of tribal troop of marble trout. Breeding capacities of the fish farm and the protected waters enable the Idrija fishing association to put in the fishing waters cca. 48.000 pieces of young  marble trouts length 20 cm and 3.000 pieces of grayling length up to 30 cm.
The results of the input are showing in an every year sports fishing in the river Idrijca, which according to the statistics of the last 15 years amounts to 17.500 to 22.000 pieces of salmonids per fishing season.
